In December 2017 we began work on our biggest wind power order to date. The project is the British offshore wind farm Hornsea Project One, where we will participate in the outfitting of 124 Transition Pieces (TPs) connecting the underwater monopiles with the wind towers.
Hornsea Project One (HOW01), which is being built by the Danish Ørsted, will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world, spanning the area of 407 sq. km and powering more than one million homes with green electricity. It will generate an impressive 1.2 GW.
Bladt Industries, who won the tender to produce the TPs, has selected a partnership of BIC Electric and Resolux as joint sub-contractors for the electrical components and installations in the transition pieces. Resolux provides the electrical and mechanical components, while BIC installs them to complete the internal and extended platforms of the TPs. The first TPs have already been loaded out.
The project considerably strengthens BIC’s engagement in the wind industry – a sector we entered in 2016 working for with Ørsted’s Race Bank project – and it reinforces our belief in the wind energy sector as one of the most important areas for our future activity, says BIC’s CEO, Jens-Christian Møller.
Hornsea Project One is expected to be operational in 2020.
