„I have further solidified my interpersonal skills and abilities to function in a team that cuts across diverse cultural backgrounds. As for the technical aspect, I have learnt a lot about residential building installations, this was a whole new area for me when I joined Eryk”.
Maurice graduated from Auchi Polytechnic – one of the leading Polytechnics in Nigeria. As Trainee and later Electric / Electronic Engineer he had been working at interesting projects for Guinness Nigeria, Nigerian Bottling Company (Coca Cola CC Hellenic) and British American Tobacco, Nigeria.
Here at Eryk, Maurice has taken part in a few technical projects in Denmark, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands, where he performed electrical and mechanical works, together with Eryk technicians. It has already been a few good months since Maurice graduated Eryk’s Apprentice Program and started working as a regular technician.
His projects so far included: performing new electrical installations for residential buildings projects, electrical and mechanical works for top automotive brand, electrical and mechanical installations on conveying systems for food & beverage industry, and more.
Generally speaking, my work so far has cut across both the field of electrical and mechanical engineering, where much of the work has been in installations (industrial and residential). Also, there has been a few maintenance/upgrade projects as well.
I’ve had the privilege to work on some great projects, so it’s really difficult to pick one over the other.
I will say I have further solidified my interpersonal skills and abilities to function in a team that cut across diverse cultural backgrounds. As for the technical aspect, I have learnt more in terms of residential building installations, this was a whole new area for me when I joined Eryk.
During his time at Eryk, Maurice extended his list of trainings with such as courses as: L-AUS – how to work safely when near electrical installations, SEP E – Polish certificate to execute electrical works and SEP D – Polish certificate to supervise electrical works, 1P – lift certificate for slow-running scissor lifts, self-propelled cherry pickers, towed mobile lift platforms mounted to vehicles. He also took part in working on heights and fall protection course, as well as at “Hot works”.
At the beginning of my career with Eryk, I had 2 trainings: Mobile elevator work platform (MEWP) training and SEP training.
I like the Netherlands. The country is serene and the people seem very calm as the go about their daily activities.
I have quite a few memories, but the one that stands out is sesame-baked salmon with potato 😉
Fantastic to have you in our team, Maurice! All the best to you!
Maurice, together with West African colleagues from Nigeria and Ghana, was partaking in our Apprentice program, designed and focused particularly on Eryk’s work standards. The program started with extensive theoretical training, addressing technical and HSEQ issues, followed by practical trainings on European sites, together with other Eryk technicians.
